Here is what I think is the ideal order for reading The Hatchet series in.

The Hatchet books are a series written by Gary Paulsen. They are also known as Brian's Saga, The Brian Books and The Brian Robeson Series.

1 Hatchet (1987)
2 The River AKA Hatchet : The Return AKA The Return (1991) ISBN 0385303882
3 Hatchet : Winter AKA Brian's Winter (1996)
This book was written after The River but is based on events as they would have developed in an alternate ending for Hatchet. In order to read the series and not have any contradictions, it is best to read The River before reading Hatchet : Winter and to disregard The River in relation to the continuity of the series.
4 Hatchet : The Call AKA Brian's Return (1999) ISBN 0330376020
The alternate title for this book is very similar to the alternate titles of The River so ensure that the correct title is ordered. For this reason, ISBN numbers are included for both of these titles.
5 Brian's Hunt (2003)
6 Hatchet : The Truth (2001) AKA Guts: The True Stories Behind Hatchet and The Brian Books
This book is not strictly part of The Hatchet Series. But will be of interest to readers of the series. It is a non-fiction book by Gary Paulsen detailing his life experience that inspired him to write The Hatchet Series.

Hope this helps some people. I spent a while looking for a definitive answer online.

Cat Storytime

1 Bread and Butter Chant
2 Where's Kitty by Colin Hawkins
3 I Went Walking felt story based on book by Sue Williams
4 Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty song
5 Hairy Maclary by Lynley Dodd
6 My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes felt story based on the book by Eve Sutton
7 Five Little Kittens Finger Rhyme
8 Peek-A-Pet by Marie Cimarusti
9 Poppa Pugaleese Drawing Story
10 Old MacDonald
11 Poppy Cat loves Rainbows by Lara Jones
12 My Presents felt story based on book by Rod Campbell
13 Five Little Mice finger rhyme
14 Bread and Butter Chant

1 Bread and Butter

This chant goes in the rhythm of a clap on both knees, then a normal clap. The little red hen had an idea. She would plant the seeds.
The little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me plant the seeds?"
"Not I," said the lazy frog.
"Not I," said the sleepy rat.
"Then I will do it myself!" said the little red hen. So the little red hen planted the seeds all by herself.

When the seeds had grown, the little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me cut the wheat?"
"Not I," said the lazy frog.
"Not I," said the sleepy rat.
"Then I will do it myself!," said the little red hen. So the little red hen cut the wheat all by herself.

When all the wheat was cut, the little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me take the wheat to the mill to be ground into flour?"
"Not I," said the lazy frog.
"Not I," said the sleepy rat.
"Then I will do it myself!," said the little red hen. So the little red hen brought the wheat to the mill all by herself, ground the wheat into flour, and carried the heavy sack of flour back to the farm.

The tired little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me bake the bread?"
"Not I," said the lazy frog.
"Not I," said the sleepy rat.
"Then I will do it myself!," said the little red hen. There are two children's music performers in New Zealand called Tessa Grigg and Brian Ringrose and they are Tessarose Productions. They specialise in preschool and babytime music and everything they do is GREAT! Especially Sing a Song for Babies and Sing a Song Vol's 1 - 4 . Their website is here - http://www.tessarose.co.nz/ and if you are looking for music for an early chilhood setting I couldn't recommend it more highly!

House Storytime

1 Bread and Butter Chant
2 Sammy Snail Rhyme
3 Who's That Scratching At My Door by Amanda Leslie
4 Washing Machine Song
5 Who Lives Here? On 'swiming' make a swimming motion and 'over the hills and far away' make a large wave motion with hands together.

3
Way Up High

Way up high in the apple tree
Stretch both arms above your head, hands open
Two little apples smiled at me
Close hands into fists
I shook that tree as hard as I could
Shake the tree
Down came the apples
Bring fists down
Mmmm, they were good!
Rub stomach

5
If Your Name Starts With...

Sung to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It"

If your name starts with A shout hooray.
If your name starts with B clap with me.
If your name starts with C touch your knee.
If your name starts with D say yipee.
If your name starts with E touch your teeth.
If your name starts with F say “Wake Up Jeff!”.
If your name starts with G blow a kiss to me.
If your name starts with H say “Neigh”
If your name starts with I blink your eye.
If your name starts with J say "Gidday".
If your name starts with K then start to sway.
If your name starts with L ring a bell
If your name starts with M look at them.
If your name starts with N cluck like a hen.
If your name starts with O touch your toe.
If your name starts with P say “whoopee!”
If your name starts with Q say “achoo!”.
If your name starts with R drive a car.
If your name starts with S make a mess.
If your name starts with T watch out for the bee!
If your name starts with U say “Whooooo”.
If your name starts with V pat your knee.
If your name starts with W, X, Y or Z Then stand up, take a bow and say "That's me!"

If you know the names of the children you are having for storytime then you can edit this song to suit the children. It can be quite long otherwise.

8
B Balloon

What you need:
A blue balloon
Simple and clear pictures of things that start with B

Blow up the balloon, show children pictures and affix them to the balloon. Then hit it to children and ask them to find the baby or whatever other b things you have on the balloon. I found Clip Art a good source for the pictures.

You can send parents home with a balloon and template of the pictures so they can make it at home.

9
Alphabet Chant

This is an adaption of a Christian song I learnt when I was younger.
